SUMMARY:Nature Nurtures: Forest Bathing Wildflower Hike
DESCRIPTION:Nature Nurtures Mindfulness Hike. Join Forest Bathing guide\, Emily Martin\, for a Nature-Based Mindfulness hike where we’ll pay attention to the sights\, sounds\, smells\, and textures of the forest. Emily will lead you through a series of mindful practices\, meditation\, and sensory exercises designed to enhance your connection with the forest.\n“Nature Nurtures” is open to all\, and we welcome individuals of all backgrounds and experience levels. This is an inclusive\, welcoming space to meet like-minded individuals who share a love for nature and mindfulness.\nSunday\, May 5 1-4 PM. Meet at Crawford Oaks Trailhead of Columbia Hills State Park in Washington. Note\, there is a $10 Discover Pass parking fee for the day\, so please carpool. Suggested donation $20/person. Kids hike free (note\, there are some steep cliffs). Dog friendly.\nThis is a 4.2 mile loop hike\, but there are plenty of opportunities to shorten the loop if people (and kids) want a shorter hiking experience.\nRegister online here ( https://www.goodriverwellness.com/events) or by calling 503-358-1949\nYour guide\, Emily Goodwin Martin\, is a certified mindfulness meditation teacher\, having trained with Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach. Emily is training to be a lay Buddhist minister and is certified to teach Forest Bathing\, Shinrin Yoku\, through the Mt. Adams Buddhist Temple.\nKids hike for free. Furry friends on a leash welcome!

SUMMARY:Yoga Retreat With Laurie Van Cott
DESCRIPTION:The theme for 2024 is\nAWAKENING!\nCome explore what awakening means for each of us\, and how to access healing and growth through yoga\, the chakras\, meditation\, food\, and self-reflection! \nThis year we will focus on balancing our physical\, emotional\, and spiritual well-being through yoga postures\, dance\, music\, meditation\, and discussion. We will also explore the chakras\, which offer a bridge between our subconscious and conscious actions and thoughts\, allowing us to understand ourselves by opening our minds to our inner sources of inspiration\, personal power\, wholeness\, and transformation. It is a practical system for healing energy imbalances and taking control of our mental and physical health\, which is relevant to all of us today as we navigate to find meaning\, purpose\, and a connection with our shared humanity. \nEach retreat will include: \n\n4 yoga classes with Laurie VanCott\, Gorge Yoga\nA lecture on the chakras and understanding the self\nAn acupuncture group session\nAn evening sound bath\nAll meals are provided by Petra Knapp of Native Provisions.\n\nThere will also be time to relax\, renew\, and reflect by providing opportunities for connection and deep conversation\, journaling\, or walking the grounds of the Abbey. \n“The yoga retreat is magical. The setting is as beautiful and peaceful as the mind can imagine. This quiet space combined with the different experiences of the retreat allow you time to reflect\, to hear your inner voices that are often covered up by the noise of life. \nI left so much lighter\, with insights and tools to help me live my authentic life. and to be able to live more closely to the person I want to be. This experience is a true gift. Laurie is a true gift to our community. A thousand thank yous!” \n~ Deborah T\, Fall 2023 \nCome be in community and honor the light within each and every one of you! \nRegistration is now open! \n
