SUMMARY:ONE DAY RETREAT – Shinrin-Yoku (Forest Bathing) and Metta practices\, May 2024
DESCRIPTION:Walking mediation in nature\nA Shinrin-Yoku forest bathing walk consists of a series of activities & sits\, designed to help the participants to bathe in the surroundings\, the environment and energy of the forest\, allowing them to slow down\, breathe\, and refocus on their body\, while connecting to their various senses. \nMore than just a nature walk\, the Japanese practice of shinrin yoku\, or Forest Bathing\, is good for both physical and mental wellbeing. It is proven to reduce stress hormone production\, improve feelings of happiness and free up creativity\, as well as lower heart rate and blood pressure\, boost the immune system and accelerate recovery from illness. \nIn 1982\, the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture\, Forestry\, and Fisheries created the term shinrin-yoku\, which translates to “forest bathing” or “absorbing the forest atmosphere.” The practice encourages people to simply spend time in nature — no actual bathing required \nThe benefits of immersing ourselves in nature is many-fold. Research conducted around the world has shown a range of physical benefits\, including: \n\nReduced blood pressure\nReduced pulse rates\nReduced blood sugar\nReduced stress hormones levels\nIncreased white blood cells that fights off infections and cancer\nStrengthened immune systems\nEnhanced mood\n\nWe will also do metta practice.  Metta is loving kindness\, and the practice of sending metta to ourselves and all sentient beings is foundational to our practice.   \nSuggested donation $50.00. No one will be refused participation due to funds. \n\nREGISTER HERE\n\nNot a local? Book lodging at 509.395.2030 / business@tlabbey.com \nThere are various options available\, depending on the event.  1. Trout Lake Abbey B&B private or hostel style rooms.  2. Meditations huts.  3. Futons either in the temple or the Mountain View Room.  4. Camping \nPlease call in advance to inquire about availability.
